Put one of these (3 - rod) into my last house a few track lights in the kitchen. For ELV halogen or track lights, big ones, the indicator remains dim obvious where you put it, and use the switch to move to move it. "Or for" (night light) is great for locations like the dark corridors, dark kitchens, ... No matter where you go in the middle of the night, should find the switch easily. I found my last house because the track lights dimmed (over tileIsland) all the way, and turns off, I can go at 3 o'clock in the morning, find the switch, there is light enough to find the refrigerator / water facility, without blinding me or lose my night vision. I can not recommend these enough. Snap-face plate covers are very attractive, but they are not so easy to remove once the switch is installed, to make sure you have correctly made the switch before photographing it.

As always with DIY electrical work, make sure you kill the right breaker,Verify the wires are "dead" with a good voltage detector before installation.
